Draw Near / Acercate

Acercándose

    • Santiago 4:8
    • La manera en que la gente se acercaba a Dios en el Antiguo Testamento.
      • Recuerden que el deseo de Dios era comunicarse con la humanidad (el Huerto, el pacto con Abraham, el Arca, el Tabernáculo), pero nosotros, en nuestra condición caída, no pudimos y a menudo no quisimos hacerlo de la manera que Él proveyó.
      • Pero los hombres y mujeres del Antiguo Testamento que se acercaron a Dios, lo hicieron de la manera en que Dios proveyó.
      • Pero también tenemos en el Nuevo Testamento a Dios tan dispuesto, tan dispuesto a acercarse una vez más a la humanidad y a que la humanidad se acerque a Él, a través de Jesús.
  • ¿Cómo nos acercamos? Sé santo (acércate) porque yo soy santo (quiero hacerte santo) para que podamos vivir juntos.
  • Romanos 12:1
  • Acercarse es adorar, y la adoración es un estilo de vida que Dios quiere que vivamos a diario: un reconocimiento de quién es Dios y su lugar en nuestra vida. 
  • Usando el tabernáculo como guía, así es como nos acercamos:
    • Santuario: el atrio exterior, el lugar santo y el lugar santísimo
    • Atrio exterior: altar del sacrificio (para ofrecer una ofrenda al Señor), pila de bronce (purificación)
    • Lugar Santo
      • Mesa de los panes de la proposición (Jesús es el Pan de vida)
      • Menorá (Jesús es la Luz del Mundo)
      • Altar del incienso (lugar de intercesión: Jesús vive para interceder eternamente)
    • Lugar Santísimo: arca del pacto, propiciatorio
      • A este lugar solo se entraba una vez al año y solo se podía hacer después de la expiación en el Altar del Sacrificio, la purificación en la Pila de Bronce y la oración intercesora en el Altar del Incienso.
        • El Lugar Santísimo es la imagen del deseo de Dios de morar con la humanidad. Jesús vino y habitó entre nosotros. En el momento en que murió en la cruz, Dios inmediatamente rasgó las cortinas del templo y el hombre pudo presentarse ante un Dios santo.
      • Dios aún desea que nos acerquemos a Él. Cómo acercarnos a Dios:
  • Crea un espacio para conectar con el Señor. Y diseña ese espacio pensando en Dios, no en ti mismo.
  • Elimina cualquier otro objeto de adoración y haz de Cristo el centro de tu vida.
    • Una entrada al santuario (puerta del este )
    • Permite la purificación.
    • Sé satisfecho en el Señor y apártate de las cosas del mundo que se consumirán al final.
      • Santiago 4:8
        • Pecadores, limpiad vuestras manos; (Se refiere a tus acciones)
        • y vosotros los de doble ánimo, purificad vuestros corazones. (Se refiere a tus motivos).
      • No puedes entrar al Lugar Santísimo sin esta parte.
        • El pecado crea separación entre Dios y la humanidad. Isaías 59:2
        • Las distracciones y las preocupaciones mundanas también pueden obstaculizar nuestra relación con Dios. Mateo 13:22
      • Para superar estos obstáculos:

        • Ora
        • Adora
        • Obedece

Drawing Near

  • James 4:8 
  • OT way of how people approached and drew near to God.
    • Remember that it was GOD’S DESIRE to commune with mankind (the Garden, the covenant with Abraham, the Ark, the Tabernacle), but we, in our fallen state, were unable and often unwilling to do so in the way He provided. 
    • But the men and women of the OT who drew near to God, did so, in the WAY IN WHICH GOD PROVIDED. 
    • But then you have in the NT God being so ready, so willing to once again draw close to mankind and for mankind to draw close to Him, through Jesus. 
  • How do we draw near? Be holy (come close) for I am holy (I want to make you holy) in order for us to dwell together 
  • Romans 12:1
  • Drawing near is worship and Worship is a lifestyle that God wants us to live each and every day – a recognition of who God is and His place in our life.
    • Using the tabernacle as a guide, here is how we draw near
      • Sanctuary—the outer court, the holy place and the most holy place
      • Outer court—altar of sacrifice (bringing an offering to the Lord), bronze basin (cleansing)
      • Holy Place
        • table of shewbread (Jesus is the Bread of life) 
        • menorah (Jesus is the Light of the World)
        • altar of incense (place of intercession —Jesus lives to ever make intercession)
      • Holy of Holies—ark of the covenant, mercy seat 
        • This place was only entered once year and could only be done after atonement at the Altar of Sacrifice, cleansing at the Bronze Basin , and intercessory prayer at the Altar of Incense.
        • The Holy of Holies is the picture of God’s desire to dwell with mankind. Jesus came and dwelt among us. The moment He died on the cross, God immediately ripped open the temple curtains and man was able to stand before a holy God.
    • God still desires for us to draw near to Him. How to draw near to God:
  • Make space for connection to the Lord. And design that space with God in mind, not self.
  • Remove any other objects of worship and make Christ the center and focus of your life.
    • One entrance into the sanctuary (eastern gate)
    • Allow for cleansing.
    • Be satisfied by the Lord and turn away from the things of the world that will burn away at the end. 
      • James 4:8b
        • Cleanse your hands, you sinners; (Has to do with your actions)
        • and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (Has to do with your motives.)
      • You cannot enter the holy of holies without this part.
        • Sin creates separation between God and humanity. Isaiah 59:2
        • Distractions and worldly concerns can also impede one's relationship with God. Matthew 13:22
        • To overcome these obstacles, 
          • Read your bible
          • Pray
          • Worship
          • Obey
